Awesome read!!!!
This book and its characters are so
real I found myself totally immersed in the story. I did not
want it to end, but I was pleasantly surprised that the ending
left me satisfied and hopeful for a sequel!!! I will not only
recommend this book to my family & friends, I also plan to give
it as a Christmas present this year. |

A must read!
This was a well-researched, fast-paced book. While this is not
my usual genre, the synopsis drew me in. I could not turn the
pages fast enough. The characters were so real and believable!
Lisa Poche Calhoun made this reader feel as though she was part
of the apocalypse. I could have been a character within this
book. I could not wait to see what would happen next. As a high
school English teacher, I will be recommending this book to
several of my students who enjoy reading this genre. It is
well-written and not filled with vulgarity. While I am 100%
satisfied with how this book ended, I hope Lisa writes a sequel
as she certainly left the end open enough to do so. |

Couldn't put it down!!!
Heard how good it was from friends in the States, so ordered the
first copy to hit Australian shores and Loved It!!! Hope the
rest of Australia catches on....
Captivating, Realistic & Couldnt put it down!! The characters
definitely made you want to take the journey with them... Found
myself wanting to finish & start the next chapter to find out
what happens next - I thank Lisa for getting me through my night
shifts...
Hoping for a sequel & am lining up for the mini series... am
already thinking who I would like to play 'Colt' & 'Abby'
Being your 1st novel Lisa - I can't wait for your next - I'm not
a huge book worm but this was absolutely a page turner for
me.... |

Amazing Astronomical Adventure
Superflare: The Fortunate Ones stands out from the
horde of disaster novels focusing on impossible events. Unlike
many novels, which focus on the devastation, this story is
grounded with the cast as we go alongside them in the aftermath.
The characters are incredibly lifelike and the book is a ride
you don't want to put down once you pick it up.
The Carrington Event of 1859 that wreaked havoc with the
telegraph system is mentioned within the novel. A modern day
Carrington Event would cripple our way of life and in many ways
our very survival. This book paints a picture of what could
happen if we weren't prepared for such a disaster and what
skills might be needed to be one of the fortunate ones. |

A Fantastic Read
What a GREAT story. Very well written and I love it that it's
not full of curse words. The story is told in "present day" and
in a way that everyone should relate to. The romantic interest
adds to the detailed daily life of the survivors. I will
recommend it to my friends and family and will definitely want
to read her next book! |

The Fortunate Ones is a wonderfully researched and
written novel
Superflare:The Fortunate Ones is a wonderfully researched and
written novel. The premise is a legitimate "this could happen"
disaster, so the reader cannot help but get immersed in the
dramatic event and its aftermath. The story has great detail in
character, scene, and action development and will definitely
grab your attention. It will also leave you questioning your own
disaster readiness. Enjoyable read. Looking forward to what
comes next! |

Realistic and gripping, I could hardly put it down!
What a great read! The accurate, historical details
compliment the well developed, very "real" characters
wonderfully. This book is so believable it's a bit scary and
definitely got me in "prepper" mode. The attention to detail and
obviously well-researched plot make this book a must read. I
could hardly put it down and now that I've finished it I am sad
it's over and am eagerly awaiting a sequel! |

Post Apocalyptic drama with romance and contemporary
western issues.
This is a well researched book. It's apparent that Mrs. Calhoun
knows farms and horses. Unless she as an astrophysicist, she'd
done an excellent job of researching her material about solar
flares, EMPs (electromagnetic pulses) and their effects on
electronics. The story line is mixed with both family life and
romance. The plot is well thought out.
I highly recommend this book. |

I love to read. Superflare: The Fortunate Ones is
definitely one I will remember! This book would be a great
Christmas gift!
This book is a very real post apocalyptic situation. The
characters are definitely believable. I thoroughly enjoyed the
storyline. One of those books that I believe would make a great
movie or series. I can see this storyline continuing for
years!!! Now I have goals of teaching my children and
grandchildren "real" survival skills. |

Love it!!
I'm not generally a big post-apocalyptic or western
reader. With that in mind, this book grabbed me from the first
chapter. The characters are very interesting, and the family
dynamic is amazing. I was constantly on the edge of my seat
waiting to see what they would go through next, but more
importantly, how they would handle it. The time and research
that went into this is absolutely apparent because it's all very
accurate. All around an interesting and impressive read!! |

"In a world full of Zombie and Vampire novels, it's
nice to read a well-written post apocalyptic novel that is so totally
believable. It was easy to get 'into the world' and stay there.
Superflare: The Fortunate Ones really makes you stop and think 'Am I prepared?'"

"Superflare: The Fortunate Ones
begins with a star phenomenon that allows the reader to explore
this rare occurrence as a plausible event in a setting the
author knows both culturally and historically. A super flare
emitted (EMP) from our sun destroys the electrical grid and
communication systems. Through narrative and dialogue Cal-houn
weaves the lives of her Southern characters as they struggle to
survive in this new existence. Readers are quickly drawn into
the lives of those who have the ability to adapt to this new
world and to those who find their total dependence on our
present day technology becomes their doom. The novel ultimately
leads its readers to con-sider the reality of a world without
modern infrastructure and wonder if they would be among the
fortunate ones. For those of us who love to engage in “What If”
scenarios, Superflare: The Fortunate Ones is a must read." – Kaye Millard, Editor of Superflare: The Fortunate Ones |

"Superflare: The Fortunate Ones was a very
enjoyable read and educational, too. I liked the twist and
turns the story took. The author used the perfect amount of
detail to put me in there, submerged in the ordeal with these
people. It brings attention to prepping, and it made me think
about what I would do if this happened to me." – Debra Dennis |
